2006 Harnett Biennial of American Prints
March 17 to June 24, 2006

University of Richmond Museums

The seventh Harnett Biennial of American Prints, organized by the University of Richmond Museums, is a celebration of contemporary printmaking by artists from the United States. The juror, Kathy Caraccio, master printer and artist, and the proprietor of K. Caraccio Printmaking Studio in New York since 1977, selected forty-nine artists from twenty-two states from entries submitted by 238 artists.

In her juror's statement, Caraccio states, "The works submitted demonstrated a great diversity of styles, inventive techniques, and visions: choosing such a group is always a challenge for me. The group spanned the spectrum of two-dimensional media, and combined different techniques with such success, that medium ceased to be an obstacle for me. Viewing and reviewing the slides, it became clear that works with visual tactility and good old-fashioned storytelling rose to the top."

She concludes, "I hope this selection of work presents sophisticated images with messages that transcend their medium and enhance the viewer's appreciation."

The participating artists are: Mark Abrahamson (Stanwood, Washington), Janet Ballweg (Bowling Green, Ohio), Andrew Blanchard (Spartanburg, South Carolina), Jeanette Bokhour (Berkeley, California), Heather Bryant (Chesapeake, Virginia), Richard S.
